Bridie O'Donnell on the R1 Aero Bar

Over 5 years ago I had my road TT bike built up with a set of the Tula aero bars from USE and I loved them. They were light, ridiculously aero and an incredibly smart design.

Later, when I was racing in professional teams and had no choice over equipment, I missed how functional, aesthetically pleasing and fast the front end of my time trial bike had been with the USE set up.

Fast forward to 2015 and I was preparing the equipment I wanted to ride on for my attempt on the UCI women’s Hour record.

I had a great frame in the Cervelo T4 and I wanted a fast, functional and beautiful set of aero bars and the R1 track bars were perfect. After gathering data on the ideal body position for me to ride my best in the Hour, we were able to easily get me into a UCI legal position, that was fast and comfortable.

I was able to set a new WR on January 22nd, 2016 at sea level in Australia with an excellent aerodynamic profile, ensuring that that physiological demands of the effort would never place me at risk of failing in my attempt.

Now I’m building my ‘perfect’ road TT bike and I’m thrilled to be able to put a set of R1 aero bars on it as I hope to qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World series in Perth in September 2016, focussing on the amateur time trial championships.
